By shapes, we mean pies and doughnuts, pyramids and funnels. Use shape charts to show proportions of a whole, with the 100% total. Data labels and tooltips may show quantities or a percentage for each wedge. Pies and doughnuts could be eventually nested and, depending on the application, it may support semi-doughnuts as well. One single value could be nicely expressed, as a percentage of the whole, with a doughnut gauge or semi-doughnut gauge, if implemented. When no data, shape charts will still show a nice watermark with the kind of figure. To emulate an empty point, we hide the area occupied by the second value (France) and leave an empty gap in that space. Thin doughnuts may appear as rings and produce and additional type of charts.
